  • Thoughts on Season Finale: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

WARNING: This post may contain major spoilers.

So it’s finally here. The season finales of the series I watch are coming. This week is that of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and holy birds was this a good finale! As the previous episode has hinted, this finale tells about the war between the Inhumans led by Jiaying and SHIELD, though I’m not sure if it’s okay to call it a ‘war’ since it looks pretty much just like a small fight but with so many deaths.

All through the season, I wasn’t sure what to feel about Jiaying. While I was pretty sure that the Inhumans meant no harm at all, I couldn’t decide whether Jiaying was a friend or foe. The previous episode proved the latter when Jiaying killed Gonzales with a Terrigen crystal and then shot herself to make it look like Gonzales tried to kill her. The Inhumans believed her, even Skye at first. But thank God she can see her mother’s true colour when Jiaying is murdering Raina (Yes, folks. The Flower Girl is dead.)

Jiaying and the Inhumans then attack SHIELD’s ship while Coulson and Co. are busy dealing with Cal’s crazy prower. Here’s the funny part: Coulson gave Cal a pep talk and after all those episodes of Cal hating Coulson, Cal finally teams up with Coulson for the sake of Skye/Daisy’s safety.

Meanwhile, Ward and Agent 33 have captured and are now torturing Bobbi so that Agent 33 can have some “closure”. Now, there are romances that make you go “Aww…” and there are the ones that make you want to vomit. Ward and Kara’s relationship is the latter and I must say that I’m glad to see Kara dies in the hands of her own boyfriend. Props to Agent May for coming up with that plan! A few episodes ago, I thought that the team should have forgiven Ward and let him back, but turns out the team was right not to trust him again. He’s such a dick.

Back in the ship, Cal is confronting his wife to try and stop her from executing her plans. Coulson, Mack, and Fitz are trying to stop Gordon from teleporting the Terrigen crystals inside a box. Fitz gets to say the “Science, biatch!” and eventually kills Gordon, but in his last moments Gordon still tries to kill every non-Inhumans on board by dropping a Terrigen crystal. Coulson drops and catches it with his left hand which quickly turns into stone(?). Mack has to go to the rescue and quickly chop Coulson’s arm off. Literally, you guys! And then Coulson screams.

Outside, Skye is trying to stop her mother but Jiaying insists on carrying on with her plans. She tries to absorb her own daughter’s soul and when Skye tries to stop her with her quake power, Cal comes and kills Jiaying instead, saving Skye from the horror of killing her own mother. Poor Cal. I’ve always liked him but I love him now.

The conclusion: Coulson now only has one hand. Skye will go find other Inhumans. May is going on a vacation. Bobbi and Hunter may leave SHIELD. Ward is heartbroken (turns out he really loved Kara) and now tries to rebuild HYDRA. Mack is staying. Cal was put into TAHITI program and now lives as a vet and has no memory of Daisy. Fitz finally asks Simmons out and she says yes!!! But then she is dragged into the alien’s substance and we don’t know what happens to her yet.

I like how the finale actually concludes the whole season. It serves well both as the second season conclusion and the third season premises. While I must say that I don’t want Raina gone, looks like she really is gone because the actress gets a bigger role in another show. Also, I hope Lincoln will be a regular next season. I need more cute guys in the show (aside Coulson). I can’t wait for season three!

  • Thoughts on Marvel’s Agent Carter Season Finale

Marvel's Agent Carter Old School Poster
    Whoa, what a show!

Have you watched the finale yet? Oh man, that last episode gave me lotsa feels. I laughed when Agent Sousa woke up after a little incident at the movie theatre coughing and still wanting to kill Agent Thompson, but “no more than usual.” (It’s these little jokes that make me love all things Marvel. Jokes even at the darkest situations.) I got excited when it was Peggy versus Dottie scene (or the Battle of Well-Styled Haired Ladies.) I went “Awwwww…” when Mr Jarvis said his goodbye to Peggy. All is well in the end, but where the hell has Dottie gone? And the last scene revealed that Dr Fenhoff is one of the people behind Hydra’s yet another growing head because he is put into the same jail cell with… someone particular (I don’t understand why they put him in the same cell with this person.)
Marvel's Agent Carter Season Finale Screencaps
I had super high expectations when Marvel and ABC announced that this show was a go. And you know what? The whole season was a blast! I love the story, the outfits, the characters (even Agent Thompson), the cars, and everything. The Mary Sue has reported that the showrunner wants season 2, but it’s still a “maybe”. But I’m sure if we all crossed our fingers and pray hard (combined with the good ratings), we will see more of Peggy Carter on our televisions (or computers if you stream it).

  • Television Updates

New season of my favourite series has finally started! I’m so excited to watch Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Elementary again. I also found another series and started watching again some series I had left behind. I may add another series to my watch list based on Velentina’s recommendation. Here they are, the series I’m currently watching, just started watching again, and just added to the watch list.

    Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Have I told you that I’m a huge fan of Marvel? Well, my love for Marvel isn’t as big as mine for Agent Coulson. In this season, he is Director Coulson. And with the Avengers: Age of Ultron coming up, I’m really curious about the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the new director. In the first six episodes, this show deals with how S.H.I.E.L.D. struggles to rebuild itself and erase the terrorist label plastered over it. Skye’s father also has made several appearances. I think Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has too many mysteries. Usually, it’s not a good thing for series. (I mean, look at Heroes that got cancelled after four seasons.) Well, either that or I’m just a stubborn girl who wants to know everything right now.

    Elementary

I’m so disappointed with the season premiere of Elementary. The reason why Sherlock is back in New York isn’t appealing for me. The case is very interesting, though. Also, I love Joan’s clothes I want to steal her wardrobe.

    Resurrection

I found this series while getting lost in Wikipedia. I decided to give it a try and instantly fell in love with the first season. It’s about a small town in USA that turned upside down (not literally) after several people come back after being dead for years. I got disappointed with the second season’s first episode, though. After all the tension in the first season finale, the resolution that the second season’s first episode gave is very lame. It gets quite boring in the latest episode, but I’m going to keep watching for my curiosity.

    Avatar: The Legend of Korra

I’m an avid fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender (the animated series, not the live action), so when I found out about its sequel, I was really excited. I watched the first season and grew to hate the new avatar: a stubborn teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe. I stopped watching after the first season ended. But when two weeks ago I found out that a) Zuko is still alive, and b) Toph is still alive too!, I decided to give the series another try. Halfway through the second season, I almost gave up once again due to how much I hate Korra, but I kept watching. I must say that the third season is quite good. I am yet to watch the fourth season, but I will.

    Downton Abbey

I also gave this period drama another try, and man was I not wrong. The fourth season is as good as the previous ones. I have only watched two episodes, but the whole season is on my (binge) watch list.

How to Get Away with Murder

According to Wikipedia, How to Get Away with Murder is a legal drama. Velentina recommended it to me, but I haven’t started watching. According to her, I’m going to like it because it is similar to Sherlock. I’m not really convinced that anyone can create a series as good as Sherlock, but we shall see.

  • Orphan Black

I’m sure that you have at least heard about this show. It is currently on its second season. The sixth episode just aired a few hours ago. As I’ve mentioned before, I just started watching this show a few weeks ago and got stuck right away. Orphan Black is a story of several women who discover that they are clones. They struggle to solve the mysteries surrounding their creations while being chased by two parties who each has its own purpose. The lead heroines are Sarah, Cosima, and Alison, plus Helena, Sarah’s twin sister. Orphan Black is probably the best TV show in history. Like, ever. To me, it even beats Sherlock. The story is original and the lead actress, Tatiana Maslany, is a very talented actress. She plays all the clones and yet I can still tell each of them apart. I even have my favourite clone (it’s Alison). I also love the fact that while all the other series I’m following are currently on a break, Orphan Black is still half through the season. That way, I still have something to look forward to each week, at least until next month. So, do you watch this show too? Who is your favourite clone?

  • Thoughts on Season Finales

A couple of months ago, I shared with you several TV series that I’ve been watching this season. The season finales of them were aired this week. Due to several reasons, I just finished watching them half an hour ago. Here are my thoughts about them.

    Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If you’re one of those people who didn’t like the first half of the season of this kick-ass series, I’d say I agree with you. I love this show, sure, but the first half of it could have been better. Fortunately, they wrapped up the season with a good ending. My favourite part was when Ward and May were reminiscing the past. And OMGyouguys!!! I really love Phil Coulson, but not as much as Nick Fury loves him, apparently.

    Elementary

The season finale of Elementary was… kind of meh. It wasn’t as mind blowing as that of the first season. However, I must say that I like the part where Sherlock confessed his feeling for Joan (spoiler: no, not in a romantic way). I love their relationship/partnership.

    Trophy Wife

I was brokenhearted when I first heard that they had decided to cancel this show. But looking back, the last few episodes weren’t actually as good as earlier ones. The season finale didn’t even make me laugh for once, though some scenes did put a smile on my face. I’m still quite sorry that it was cancelled. I’m gonna miss Diane so much.

Something that makes me so excited about next season is that Marvel has officially announced that they will give Agent Carter a special series of her own! Imagine it. A series about spies, set in the 1940s, with a female lead character! It adds up the girl power in me even more as several weeks ago I also found out about Orphan Black and decided to try watching the first episode. Best. Decision. Ever. I binge watched the whole first season in one night and now I find myself looking forward to new episode every Sunday morning (the time it is aired in my time zone). Now if you’re following me on Twitter, you will see that I’m super obsessed with Allison Hendrix. Fancy joining me in #CloneClub talks on Twitter?
