(more…)

TV Shows I’m Currently Obsessed With
With the exams season over and the finals week not starting until next month, I’ve been pretty much unemployed right now. In order to tone down my reading-craze a bit, I’ve been watching quite a lot of TV shows. Here are four TV shows I’m currently obsessed with:
1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
A mutual on Tumblr got super obsessed with this show that he couldn’t stop reblogging all Brooklyn Nine-Nine gifsets. I kept seeing the gifsets that I finally got sick of them and decided to watch the show. I got hooked instantly. This show is so hilarious! It tells the story of a detective squad from the 99th precinct of NYPD. They are all good detectives with unique personalities. Police procedural has always been my favourite genre, and with almost all my fave police shows already got canceled (Motive, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, etc.) this comedy has become #1 on my list.2. Superstore
Superstore is a workplace comedy set in a hypermarket called Cloud9. I’ve never worked in retail. but from what I’ve read working retail can be very stressful. Superstore tells the comedic side of said stressful job. It also makes fun of the corporate and how badly they treat their employees. Season 2 was concluded earlier this month with a tragic episode which is a mixture of hilarious and heartbreaking.3. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This show has always been on my list of favourite TV shows, although I have mixed feeling about it. The first half of this season (the Ghost Rider arc) was very boring and I stopped watching at episode 6. But then I decided to start watching again near the end of the season and I must say that the second half of the season (the crazy robot aka LMD aka AIDA arc) is fantastic! I feel that the show has drifted too far away from the whole MCU, but the last scene in the season finale (is it a cliffhanger, I’m not sure) hinted that perhaps the next season will have a direct link to the upcoming Infinity War? Let’s just see.4. Keeping Up with the Kardashians
I know a lot of people hate Keeping Up with the Kardashians (and the family altogether), but it’s a show that’s so ridiculous that you can get so attached to it, get it? Hahah… I hadn’t really watched this show, but a few months ago E! Channel aired a marathon of season 12 right before season 13 premiered and I can’t stop watching since. I like them, they’re kind of funny. There are several series already on my list that I haven’t started watching yet (e.g. Sense8, Iron Fist, etc.) and there are also series premiering their new seasons next month. But Ramadan is starting in 3 days so I’m very conflicted between watching these shows or devoting myself to ibadah hahahaha :p
What are your favourite TV shows?

Things To Look Forward To For The Rest Of The Year
Ha! See what I did there with the title? “… For The Rest Of The Year” as if 2016 still had months to go. Well, knock on wood because 2016 has been a wild ride and it feels like the worst, longest year ever, both to the whole world and to me personally. I’m both eager and afraid of what 2017 will become. Part of me wants to be optimistic that 2017 will be a fresh, new start–a chance to correct all the mistakes I made in 2016; the other part of me keeps saying that 2017 is just literally one day after 2016 and I’m sure one whole year of mistakes won’t just change in one day. However, December has a lot of good things to offer, apparently. There’s still a chance that 2016 won’t end badly. Perhaps it’ll end with a blast? I don’t know about you, but here are things that I look forward to for the rest of 2016.
Sing
Sing is an animated movie from the same production house from which Despicable Me and Minions came. It’s a fable of a singing competition. I still haven’t known more information about the storyline, but it has become on my list since the first time I saw the teaser trailer a few months ago.Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name)
Have you heard about this Japanese animated movie? It has been released for quite some time now, but was just released yesterday in my country. It has been praised by critics and certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and it was also reported to have beaten Moana in the box office. The story is about two high school students who are strangers to each other but suddenly switch places. They have to find a way to adjust to the situation because the switch happens randomly.Sense8 Christmas Special
After waiting for more than a year, Sense 8 will finally come back on Netflix this month with a Christmas special on December 23. Read more about Sense8 here.Rogue One
We get a Star Wars movie every year. What a time to be alive, huh? Just like any other movies/series in this post, I hardly have a clue about Rogue One other than it’s about rebellion towards the empire. Fantastic Beasts has opened up my eyes about how refreshing it is to watch a movie with little to zero knowledge about the story. Thus I’ve drawn myself from researching before seeing Rogue One. Hahaha!Sherlock Series 4
I know, I know. Sherlock will technically come back on the New Year’s Day, but like I said above, it’s just one day after December 31 :pHow about you? Do you have anything to add to my list?

Murders and More Murders: 4 TV Shows I’m Currently Obsessed With
1. Motive
I stumbled across this Canadian TV series while browsing through channels, trying to find CSI or Law and Order. Neither of them was showing, so I decided to give Motive a try. I instantly fell in love with how the story is delivered. In most of the episodes in general crime or detective series, we get to be detectives ourselves and guess who is the killer. Motive, on the other hand, tells us who is the killer and who is the victim right from the beginning of each episode. The story then tells us how the detectives put the clues together to find out who is the killer and what is their motive (hence the title) using a back-and-forth storyline. It’s a fresh twist for my thirst for crime/detective series. If you know me, you’d already know that I’m a sucker for murders, blood, and all other detective stuff (Agatha Christie basically ‘converted’ me when I was 12). I’ve always been a huge fan of CSI and Law and Order, but Motive has become #1 on my list.2. Sense8
My husband introduced me to Sense8 when it was released, but I found that the pilot episode was not interesting. However, I then gave it another try a few weeks later and it turns out to be one of the best sci-fi TV series I’ve ever seen. The story is about 8 people (‘sensates’) who have some sort of connections with each other. They can feel, see, taste, and basically sense everything that the others sense. The pilot introduces all those 8 characters and that was the cause of my initial confusion-turned-to-boredom, but starting from episode 2 we get to see deeper stories about each character and my confusion faded away. Sense8 is funny, thrilling, and full of action. You will love this one 😉3. Dexter
One of the perks of watching a TV shows that are no longer airing is you can binge watch all you want without having to wait for newer episodes to air. I watched the final season of Dexter when it was aired on Fox Crime (or AXN?) and I decided to buy the first season DVD. I’m almost done with it now; just 2 more episodes left.4. Jessica Jones
I must admit that I haven’t read any JJ comics. I had no idea who she was before watching this series. Well, I still have no idea what her role in the Marvel universe is, but I know that she is badass. Being a huge fan of Veronica Mars, I found Krysten Ritter playing a PI hilarious. My first thought after finding that Jessica Jones has similar neo-noir genre like Veronica Mars was “Look at that. Gina Goodman pretending to be Veronica!” The series itself is quite boring. I think it is too slow-paced. Kilgrave is a promising enemy and his power seems so scary at first, but as the series progresses, Kilgrave’s power looks less and less scary. It’s a good show, but not good enough to make me want to rewatch the whole season.Dara | Bloglovin’ | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook
