Jurasik Fest 2015 | Hola Darla
I just love Bandung so much. Like, so, so much. Bandung is a food heaven; even with hundreds of cafes and restaurants everywhere (some are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week), Bandung still offers you food festivals every other weekend. If last month I told you about Keuken, now I’m telling you about Jurasik Fest.

Jurasik Fest combines food with music and arts. We can buy various foods from food trucks and booths, and then sit on the chairs to enjoy local street bands’ performance. The available food and drink are not too variative, but the price is affordable! Cheapest among all the other food festivals, I’d say. There are plenty of chairs and tables, so we don’t have to eat while standing up (which is something I’m not comfortable of doing).

We had chicken satay, fried ice cream, apple smoothie, and slushies. I loveee all of them. I especially love the chicken satay. It was very tasty and very different than regular satay. The slushies were the kind I had never tried before. They were strawberry and grape flavoured. The grape one was too sweet for me, so I had the strawberry one. The packaging was very unique; it was a pouch instead of a cup.

Jurasik Fest will be held until this Saturday. If you’re in Bandung, you really should come! It’s located in the parking lot of Hollywood Bar, 38 Sumatera St. Cheap food and drink plus good music in just one place? Yes, please! 😉

    Weekend Links

Posted in EN, weekend links by

Weekend Links is back again! Man, how I miss writing these links lists. I miss the entire Internet because I have been sleeping doing other things that I don’t have much time to explore the interwebz. These articles may not be new to you, as I’ve been catching up with what I’ve missed these past few weeks, but hopefully these are the ones you’ve missed to. Haha :p

    Links!

    • Since the word ‘selfie’ was invented, the act of taking one’s picture by oneself has been considered as something abnormal, e.g. a sign of chronic narcissism, etc. Kam’s point of view in her post about mirror selfies and how reflections tell better story is something to think about.
    • As I may have told you before, I was born with absolutely no artistic skills. I’ll spend the rest of my life envying people like Amanda and Will, who recently did a makeover for their bedroom by painting forest wall mural. How did they do it?!
    • Starting an online business just like I am? Here’s something to keep in mind: Online “Success” And “Failure” Don’t Look The Way You Think.
    • An interesting read about how the US is smaller than you think it is.
    • People in my country are crazy about “favourite schools”. But whose favourite are they? Parents’ or their kids’? *written in Bahasa Indonesia

What interesting articles have you found on the Internet lately? Share them with me! Put it in your comment, tweet me the link, or shoot me an email 😉

On the sixth day of Ramadan last week, Mata Ilmu Private Course held a small charity event. We gave some snacks for iftar (called “takjil”) to the riders and drivers on Taman Sari-Pasteur crossroad. 200 packages were given away in less than 10 minutes! This charity was held to celebrate Ramadan and the end of the semester. About 15 teachers joined this event. We had iftar together in the evening.

Here’s to a blessed Ramadan and a new semester! 😉

    Life Lately

Posted in Blogging, EN, Life, this blog by

Dara + Miss Jess | Hola Darla
It was never my intention to suddenly abandon this blog. I’ve been feeling so overwhelmed with life lately. I feel like time goes by so fast each day, yet I’ve accomplished nothing so far. Time management is never my strength, and it’s become even worse these past few weeks. With Ramadan and Eid coming, and a new small business in mind, I can barely breathe. I’ve spent too much time on the road, commuting, and with all these things inside my mind, blogging has to be put aside.

It’s a shame; I used to love and enjoy blogging, but now it feels like a chore. Like I am forced to do this. Like if I stop entirely, I fail. I’ve been seeing a lot of blogs shut down these past years, but I don’t want to do that to this blog. I want to keep doing it. I think I need to rethink about the purpose of this blog. Refocus. Rebuild. And by doing so, I hope I can grow both this blog and my own self. Bear with me.

PS. Wait for a good news from me later this week 😉
