  • A New Family Member: Jess

I had been lonely since Miss Molly passed away. There were moments when I randomly burst to tears and cried for half an hour. After several weeks considering, we finally decided to adopt a new cat. We rescued this stray tabby female cat from my mum’s neighbourhood on Wednesday. We named her Jess, but we call her GoJess (like cheering her up: Go, Jess! Go, Jess!) The inspiration behind the name was, of course, Jess of New Girl. Why? Because she has quite long hair for a local cat and it reminds me of Zooey Deschanel’s hair (LOL. Can you believe it?)

She’s a little bit naughty and very active. At night, she likes to run around the house as if she’s chasing something that can’t be seen by us. (Yes, the thought of ghost has occured several times on our heads, but we’ve decided to ignore that thought.) At day, however, she likes to take a long, long nap. Like, all day.

If you think that we’ve forgotten about Molly since it took us less than a month to get another cat… No, we have not forgotten about her. I still love her very much. But, I think perhaps it would be better to channel all the love to another cat in need rather than crying myself to sleep every night. I buried Miss Molly under a window at my house and it has become my habit to look at it everytime I open/close the window. I still love Miss Molly very much, but I’d like to focus on moving on with Jess. Molly will always have a part in my heart.

  • Goodbye, Molly…

After months of being unable to walk with her rear feet and two weeks of being cage-ridden, Miss Molly passed away on Friday morning. It broke my heart; I had always thought that she’d have a long life and someday my children would play with her and pull her tail. Yet, I am relieved. She was in so much pain and had been like that for far too long. I’m relieved that she’s in a better place now, perhaps playing with her three kittens who went before her. She will always be remembered and missed.

    We love you, Molls.

  • Eid Mubarak!

Whoa. Look at that. Two weeks without a single post.

I had planned to write a post before leaving for the holiday and another one to be scheduled to appear on last Tuesday, but I couldn’t find any spare time in between all the Eid shopping. And then we suddenly hit the road, with Miss Molly caged between my sister and me. It was Miss Molly’s first road trip ever. It took about 15 hours to get to my granny’s house in Lampung, and poor Miss Molly was stressed. She could adjust in just one night, though. The next morning she became herself again. She took long nap all the time.

    By the way, Eid Mubarak!

  • Neutering Miss Molly

After thinking about it since the first time I adopted her, I finally had the gut to take Miss Molly to a vet and had her neutered. (If you have pets, you should consider neutering them too. You can read this if you’re still unsure.) On Sunday, PKDB (or Pecinta Kucing Domestik Bandung, a cat lovers community in my city) held a charity event where cat owners could neuter their cats for a cheaper cost. I signed up Miss Molly and so she went under surgery on Sunday night.

I witnessed the whole surgery procedure through a window. Miss Molly had an anesthesia shot, but she was awake and her eyes were opened. I don’t understand how anesthesia work, but I knew she didn’t feel anything because she just lay there looking confused. I kept waving and smiling at her. She was looking at me with a puzzled look, like “Where am I? Who are these people? What are they doing down there?”

For about 20 hours since the surgery, she didn’t want to eat or drink. She slept all day yesterday, but she finally ate her food in the afternoon. She’s doing fine now. In fact, she eats a lot. People say that a neutered cat has the tendency of getting fatter and I don’t mind at all. Cuddling with Miss Molly would feel even more fun if she put on some weight. Her kids are all supportive too, in a way where they keep bugging her and asking to suckle.

I’m just hoping that the stiches are cured soon so that I can cuddle with her again. I really miss hugging her tightly.

  • An Upcoming Something + An Announcement

A and I had a small photo session this afternoon. We’re planning on doing a collaborative-project-sort-of-thing. The whole concept is still under construction, but hopefully we can announce it soon.

On a side note, Miss Molly gave birth to three uber cute kittens today. I know I haven’t said anything about her pregnancy in this blog; I’m really sorry about that. She went into labour this morning and the last kitten was born in the afternoon (while I was away). It was her first pregnancy and she’s still very young (I used to joke that if she were a human, she would be on 16 and Pregnant :p) but she proved that she is a badass lady cat. I’m so proud of her. The three kittens are healthy, but I haven’t named them yet as I still can’t distinguish their sex. Pictures are going to be shared as soon as they can strike a pose.
