  • The Travelling Novel

    The
Back in June, Anjali from This Splendid Shambles announced her idea of a travelling novel. Curious, I checked her announcement post and instantly became interested. I signed up right away. After waiting for a few months, the novel finally arrived at my doorstep safely.

So, what’s a travelling novel actually? The Travelling Novel is Anjali’s idea to pass a novel around the globe. This novel, Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived In The Castle has traveled from New Zealand to the UK, then from the UK to Indonesia. After finishing it, I have to pass it on to another person in another part of the Earth.

I’ve just got this novel yesterday and I haven’t started reading yet (my in-laws are in town, so I’ve been quite busy being a host), but I’m very excited to read it. I like Shirley Jackson’s short story, The Lottery, and from the back cover of this novel I learned that this novel deals with murders, my favourite!

I still don’t know to whom I will send the novel after I finish it, so if you’re interested in joining The Travelling Novel project, please let me know by mentioning @DarlaOct on Twitter 😉

  • Link-Up: The Guy Behind The Blog

Today, I’m joining the link-up on Heavens to Betsy. It’s called The Guys Behind The Blog. Every month, Betsy would post several question prompts for our guys to answer. It’s a nice idea to get to know what’s in our guys’ mind (you know, because guys tend to bottle it up inside their own minds). Here are my husband’s answer to this month’s questions:

1 // if you could write a book, what topic would you write about and why? Book about Unity programming and node.js. I went to the bookstore last weekend and couldn’t find anything about those two. Such a bummer.
2 // what is one thing on your bucket list, or one thing that you’d like to do or accomplish in your lifetime? I want to create a best selling game and make billions out of it!
3 // if you could look out your window and only see one view for the rest of your life, what would you want to see? A quiet beach/seashore.
4 // imagine you’re opening a shop, what are you selling? Raspberry and arduino.
5 // if you could have 50lbs of anything other than money, what would it be? A gaming PC. All 50lbs of them.
6 // time to brag on your girl…tell us one thing that makes you proud of your wife! She can do everything. Literally everything. I love everything about her. Except perhaps her fart. Haha!

    ***

    My comments:
Whoa, what a game nerd! Haha… Maybe I have to give you all a background story so his answers will make sense. My husband is a game developer and web programmer. That’s why almost all of his answers are relating to all that geeky stuffs. Also, we often fart in each other’s company, so to explain his answer for the last question. We’re not a classy couple, honestly :p

  • music monday: one hit wonders

Hello, lovelies! It’s a gloomy Monday here in Bandung, but I’m in a very pleasant mood. Why? Because I don’t have to attend English for Office Administration class tomorrow. Yo ho ho!

And for the first time in weeks, I do a Music Monday post in the actual Monday. This week’s theme is One Hit Wonders. I had to dig my memory very deep to find these songs. I need to inform you that these are one hit wonders in Indonesia. I know that Smash!! was quite popular in their origin country (Russia), but they only had one hit here in Indonesia. The same thing happened to Jesse McCartney. So, I beg your pardon if you think that these songs are not really one hit wonders in your country. (Afterall, I don’t have a wide knowledge in music, actually.)

    So, here they are:

Again, I’m linking up with Kristen for her Music Mondays feature. She hasn’t posted her playlist and the linky yet, but I’m going to post mine now. Hope you enjoy it. Happy Monday, y’all!

    Sincerely,
    Putdar.

  • music monday (on tuesday): a tribute playlist

(Silly me put the Music Monday post on Tuesday again.)

This week’s theme for Music Monday is tribute. I don’t have much to say about the playlist, except the fact that I love each song on it. And I couldn’t find The Beatles on Grooveshark, so I put the YouTube video instead. Here they go:

I know, I know. The Long and Winding Road was actually sung by Paul McCartney, and he is alive. (And he won a Grammy! And people tweeted “Who the hell is Paul McCartney? Is he Jesse McCartney’s uncle?”) I put it here just because John Lennon played the bass. And I love him (though not as much as I love Paul. Sorry, Johnny Boy…)

I’m linking up with Kristen. You should check her version 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Putdar.
