The Rise of Skywalker was a Good Movie, but I Effing Hate The Ending

I can’t say that I’m a huge Star Wars fan because I haven’t even watched the prequel trilogy (serious question: should I?), but I love the original trilogy and I have been following the new series religiously. I’ve read almost all fan theories about Rey’s origin and I felt betrayed when The Last Jedi didn’t answer the big question about Rey’s parents. I was hoping that all the mysteries would be solved in The Rise Skywalker. Well the movie did solve them; it was a solid and over all good, but that ending was just so lazy.

I assumed y’all have already watched the movie so I’ll just go ahead and tell you everything that rubbed me the wrong way in The Rise of Skywalker.

First of all, Ben Solo deserves better. He deserves so much better. He deserves a deeper and more explored redemption arc. His ending was just so lazy. So his mother died and then he saw his father ghost and that’s it? He just switched side? What?

Second, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT KISS FOR??? I mean… yeah a lot of fans ship Rey and Kylo, but I just didn’t see the chemistry. They looked more like force twins to me. Makes a whole lotta more sense too if they were just force siblings.

Third, Rey didn’t deserve the Skywalker name. Rey had only known Luke and Leia for like what, a couple of years? Rey should’ve died and Ben should’ve lived. He should’ve been the Skywalker the movie title was talking about. He had the blood, FFS.

So yeah… I hate the ending.
